George Mester

George was born in 1932 in Hungary. He and his first wife, Rose, escaped during the Hungarian Revolution to Austria. He brought with him many trade skills such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and auto mechanics. In America, George became a fabricator, machinist, welder, a Jack of all Trades, and could repair almost anything. He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Mester; daughter, Donna Clarke; son, John Mester; 3 stepsons: Richard, Edward and Curtis Larsen; 3 grandchildren: Ashley, James and Thomas Clarke; 6 step-grandchildren: Richard Larsen III, Kristina St. Amour, Jessica Spanakos, Jana Schoenberg, Curtis Larsen Jr., Kathreen Larsen; and 4 step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Mester, and several siblings.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 pm on Wednesday, May 19 at Brooks Funeral Home, Newburgh, with prayers at 5:30. A graveside service and burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 20 at Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY.
