Geraldine "Gerry" Compasso

Geraldine "Gerry" Compasso of New Windsor New York passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning February 3, 2021 at St. Luke's Montifore Hospital. Gerry was born November 23, 1940 in Mount Vernon, New York, daughter of the late Jerome and Rose (Harrigan) Kenlon.

Gerry loved her 40 plus year transportation career. Driving others around, stirring up conversation and making friends, learning about other's lives not only gave her great joy, but impacted the lives of many as seen in the outpouring of love and support over the last weeks.

Gerry could always been seen with a smile on her face and her "It Is What It Is" attitude! Visiting grandma always meant candy, cookies, and treats. Gerry loved all things sports but especially her New York Mets and Duke Blue Devils.

Survived by her two sons and daughter, Robert Compasso, Jr and his wife Michele of New Windsor, NY, Susan Schnitzler and her husband Michael of Charlton, NY and James Peter Compasso (Wendy) of Newtown, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stephanie Compasso Geyer and her husband Matthew, Courtney Miller, Christina Compasso, Kyle Miller, Brandon Compasso, Matthew Schnitzler, Giovanni Compasso and Jason Schnitzler. She is also survived by Robert Compasso, Sr. of Fort Mill, SC the father of her children. She will be dearly missed by her special honorary grandchildren Chelsea Pompa, Mikayla Miller, Brianna Delgado, and Megan Delgado. She is also survived by her sisters Sr. Rose Jerome Kenlon of Mount Vernon, NY, Maryanne Saw of Glendale, Az and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff, especially the nurses and doctors in the ICU, at St. Luke's Hospital for their exceptional care and communication with our family during our mother's illness.

There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, February 5 at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, to which family and friends are invited. Due to COVID restrictions, please be advised there will be no receiving line, and masks and social distancing are required.
