Grace W. Shier, a lifetime resident of Newburgh, entered into eternal rest on Saturday December 27, 2014 at Elant of Newburgh. She was 86. The daughter of the late James and Matilda Withrow Knox, she was born October 23, 1928 in Newburgh, NY. Grace married her husband, the late Joseph F. Shier, on August 22, 1948 in Newburgh. She is survived by her loving children: Deborah Moresco and her husband Harry, Joseph Shier Jr. and his wife Debrah of Newburgh; her grandchildren: Heather Bezio, Crystal Johnson, Amy LaPierre and Kayla Shier; her great grandchildren: Jillian Bezio, Sophia Johnson, Jared Johnson, and Kamryn Bezio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Ferguson and Dot Masten. The Shier family would like to thank the staff at Elant of Newburgh and the staff of 5N at St. Luke's Hospital for the excellent care they provided. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Friday, January 2 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, NY.
