James Richard Fisher, 64, of Newburgh, died quietly at his home on Saturday, September 8, 2012. He was born January 2, 1948, the oldest of six children born to the late Marcella and Kenneth Fisher of Blauvelt, NY. Survivors include his brown-eyed girl, the love of his life, Linda Binaghi Fisher, his wife of 43 years; three children, Melissa Fisher Ross and her husband Michael and their four children, Mariah, Lorelai, Lily, and William of Kerhonkson, NY, Christopher Fisher and his wife Stephanie Viola Fisher of Brooklyn, NY, and Amanda Fisher of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by three sisters, Marcella Fisher Atzl and her husband John of Thiells, NY, Victoria Fisher Rigoli and her husband Joseph of Parsippany, NJ and Elizabeth Fisher Rodriguez and her husband Steven of Monroe, NY; two brothers, Stephen Fisher of Burlington, NC and Joseph Fisher and his wife Janet of Gibsonville, NC; as well as several nieces and nephews. James was a loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, and a terrific older brother and son. He was a proud member of the US Air Force having served from 1969-1973 as a Crew Chief on F-4 fighter planes. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and a graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University. He was most recently employed by Jasper Engines and Transmissions. Throughout his career, he won many awards in recognition of his salesmanship at companies such as Motorola, Balzers, and Watlow. He will be remembered most for his infectious laugh, his generous heart, and his love of family and friends near and far. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, September 11 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 12 in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. Burial will be private. Donations in James' memory may be made to Castle Point VA Hospital, 100 Rt. 9D, Castle Point, NY 12511.
