Obituary

Joan Elizabeth Masi
July 15, 1943 ~ February 8, 2021
New Windsor, NY
Joan Elizabeth Masi, beloved mother and devoted wife, passed into the Lord's waiting arms on Monday, February 8, 2021. She was 77.
Joan was born to Mary and John O'Sullivan on July 15, 1943 in Queens, NY. She married the love of her life, the late Joseph Raymond Masi, on March 4, 1967 at St. Peter's Church, in Liberty, NY.
She was a retired office associate from Sears in the Newburgh Mall. Working in the "HUB" office, this made her a staple employee of the store for many years. Joan was an active member of the Mid-Hudson USBC for over 45 years. Throughout that time, she bowled in leagues every week, as well as tournaments and attending association events. Her favorite part of bowling was the cherished relationships that she made, adding to her list of lifelong friends.
Joan was also known for volunteering with the New Windsor Little League. Having worked the concession stand duty, along with her husband and other parents, while always trying to watch her sons play. She was an avid New York Yankees fan, and loved going to the stadium with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling to the New York City, to see the Christmas Spectacular, the tree, and just enjoying the sights. Although reluctant to fly, Joan even traveled out to Las Vegas with her bowling friends, just to surprise her son.
Joan was a lifelong, devout Catholic, going to weekly masses at St. Joseph's, and St. Thomas of Canterbury Churches. Her favorite thing to do was just to be around her loved ones. Spending as much time with them, whether it was Christmas in Middletown, Liberty, or New Windsor. Joan always wanted to be close to her family.
She is survived by "her boys", Joseph Vito Masi of Newburgh, and Robert John Masi of New Windsor, and her loyal canine companion Willow. She leaves behind her brothers, Robert O'Sullivan of Saugerties and his children, and John and Agnes O'Sullivan of Quinton, Alabama and his five sons, grandchildren, and stepchildren. Also her brothers and sisters in law, James Masi of Middletown, Raymond and his wife Raelene Masi of New Windsor. In addition, her nephews and nieces, Jason, Christopher and Aimee, and Bryan and Nicole, and many cousins.
The family will be present to receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 4-7pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550. Interment will follow in the coming days at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh.
