Obituary

Laura A. Pratt
December 20, 1939 - December 27, 2021
New Windsor, NY
Laura Ann Pratt departed this life at the age of 82 on Monday, December 27, 2021 at her residence in New Windsor, NY.
Laura Ann Harris, also known as Sarah and Laura A. Williams was born on December 20, 1939 in Montgomery, Alabama to Eugene and Corene Williams. Early on, she relocated to New York City. She ended her education at Central Commercial High School. After high school, Laura worked in the education system, the Post Office and as a Provider Mother with Cardinal McCloskey Community Services.
Laura Ann married William Milton Pratt on Friday, January 24,1958. This union resulted in 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. They moved to Stevenson Commons in the 70s where she raised not only her children and grandchildren, but many other children within the neighborhood.
Laura was the neighborhood mom. She loved kids and provided for her family. She enjoyed planting, crocheting, puzzles, watching soap operas, shopping and couponing (we all know she was a thrifty shopper). Before moving upstate and losing her cousin Dorothy (her travel buddy), she enjoyed traveling and entertaining friends.
During the holidays she would traditionally host dinners and celebrations for her family and friends to gather and spread love. Laura's last and final wishes were that her family remain traditional and love each other with minimal to no unnecessary animosity towards one another.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Corene Williams; father, Roosevelt Jackson; husband, William Pratt; daughter, Patricia Underwood; brother, Thomas 'Scoop' Harris; sister-in-law, Victoria Harris; and brothers-in-law, Andre Jackson, Sr. and Johnny Lundy. Laura leaves to cherish her memory and legacy six children, Keith (Michelle), Adriane, Terrance (Yvonne), Rhonda, Crystal, Tisha; sixteen grandchildren, Vashon, Veronica (James), Danielle, Dianne, Derek, Tinea, William, Kashif (Scarlett), Tinaysha, Sheree (Dushun), Charles, Caprenia, Tatyana (Kwasie), Tia, Deja, and Rayne; fifteen great-grandchildren, Branden, Khloe, Tyler, Jeremiah, Tahj, Chase, Mason, Maliyah, Tristan, Hendrix, Jagger Rose, Aiden, Tage, Kaleb and Sianni; sister-in-laws, Barbara Pratt Cross Lundy and Cheryl J. Glenn; godsister: Yuonit Arlene Thompson; sisters: Barbara 'Auntie' Riding and Jacquelyn Cauthen, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Laura Pratt may have departed from this life but lives on forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at a later time.
