Maria Teresa Cintron
August 15, 1942 ~ December 19, 2025
Maria Teresa Cintron was born on August 15, 1942, in Carolina, Puerto Rico, to Daniel Solis and Petra Franco Solis, and was lovingly raised in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.
At a young age, Maria migrated to the United States, settling in Hartford, Connecticut, where she would go on to build a remarkable life rooted in family, entrepreneurship, and community. At just 18 years old, Maria married the love of her life, Angel L. Cintron. Together, they shared a lifelong partnership and raised five children—three sons and two daughters: Robert, Carlos, Maritza, Angel, and Michelle Cintron. Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
Maria is survived by her beloved sister, Adela Solis, and was preceded in death by her parents and her four brothers: Francisco, Victor, Jose, and Daniel Solis. She also leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved and supported wholeheartedly.
A true pioneer, Maria was a trailblazer in the Puerto Rican community of Hartford, Connecticut, becoming one of the first Latina women to own a hair salon in the area. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to successfully own and operate three additional businesses. A woman of impeccable style, Maria had a deep love for fashion, music, and the arts—bringing cultural richness to her community, including helping introduce the vibrant sounds of La Fania to Hartford. Maria was the heart of her family and a pillar in her community—respected, admired, and deeply loved. For more than 20 years, she made Florida her home, where new memories were created and her legacy continued to grow.
S he will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Ya Ya." Her strength, elegance, and love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
