Martha B. Mackey, 93 years old, entered into rest on January 8, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, NY. The daughter of the late Ruth Elizabeth Beals & James Nathan Beals, she was born in Miamisburg, OH.
Martha attended Miamisburg High School and Whittenburg College. For over 35 years she worked for the Newburgh School District, which included being Secretary at South Jr. High school, then moved on to become the Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for the Greater Newburgh School District, where she earned the award of Secretary of the Year. She was also a part time travel agent.
She enjoyed the theater, trips to Manhattan, bridge, her family and extensive domestic and international travel, England was her favorite. She was a member of Club 60, Golden Age, Garden Club, Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, Bridge Club and Nami. She was also a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church for 66 years, serving in various roles including Deacon and Trustee. Martha LOVED her Ohio State Football and was an avid follower. Martha was a charitable donor to St. Jude's for years.
Survivors include her children: Todd D. Mackey & Linda S. Mackey of Jacksonville FL, Norman R. Mackey & Linda L. Mackey of Sinking Springs, PA, Janice E. Mackey of Goshen, NY; grandchildren: Meghan A. Mackey (Deceased), Brian A. Mackey, Nathan T. Mackey, Andrew J. Mackey; great-grandchildren: Aidan J. Mackey, Rose M. Mackey; siblings: Richard Beals, Alma Schneider, John Beals (Deceased), and her cousin, Tom Ross, who was like a brother to Martha.
Visitation will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh, with a service at 3:30.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Calvary Presbyterian Church & the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra.
