Mary Lamela, of Marlboro, NY, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, entered into rest on Thursday, August 11, 2016. She was 56. Daughter of the late Joshua and Marie (Small) Smith, she was born September 3, 1959 in Laurel, MD. Mary loved her family. Her husband was the love of her life. Her family's happiness meant everything to her. She enjoyed putting smiles on everyone's face. Mary's spirit was infectious. She had a strong Christian faith and would say, "When it's my time to pass, don't be sad because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord".Mary is survived by her husband, Robert A. LaMela; her children, Salina Cooper of Lake Katrine, NY, Robert A. LaMela Jr. of Greenwood, DE, and Jimmy LaMela of Marlboro, NY; siblings, Jimmy Smith of Highland, Joshua Smith of New Paltz, Tom Smith of Milton, and Brenda Smith of Milton; her grandchildren, Natalia LaMela, Christianna Cooper, Noah Cooper III, and Robert A. LaMela III; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, August 16 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 17 at the funeral home, with burial following in Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.
