Oscar Torres, age 61 entered his eternal rest peacefully on October 11, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Oscar was born in Fort Myers, Florida on April 3, 1961 and later moved to Newburgh, New York, with his family, at the tender age of one.Our beloved Oscar was incredibly popular within the family and within the greater Newburgh community. He loved the Lord, had a heart of gold, filled with compassion and had the greatest sense of humor. He filled each space with his enormous personality and was the heart and soul of the family! He was fervently patriotic and loved being a "Boricua," while also being an avid Bruce Lee fan. He had an impressive collection of memorabilia in his bedroom to honor his superhero. He mainly loved to spend time with his family, celebrate the holidays and he loved to work hard.Oscar was formerly known by many as a friendly greeter in Walmart, as the "Karate Kid" at Newburgh Lunch and later as a productive team member of Access Supports for Living in Middletown, New York. He collected action movies, loved classic comedies and westerns and enjoyed watching one of his favorite programs, Bonanza, at 2pm daily. Romance movies were not his cup of tea, he found them boring :)He is predeceased by his loving parents, Carmen Juarbes Torres, his father, Celestino Torres and his adoring sister, Sandra Serrano. He is survived by his siblings: Francisco Serrano, Ephraim Serrano, Sonia Harvey, Beatrice Serrano, Rolando Serrano, Carlos Torres, Orlando Torres, Carmen Hansen, Maria Alvarez, Milagros Garcia and his loving nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.Visitation and a service will be held on Friday, October 28th from 11 AM to 1:00PM at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
