Susan Elizabeth Howard, of Kingston, NY, Director of Administration for Levy Institute at Bard College for 36 years, entered into rest on August 14, 2015. She was 68. Daughter of the late William Griffin and Ruth Elliott, she was born April 26, 1947 in Albany, NY. She is survived by her stepfather, Paul Rockinger. A loving mother and doting grandmother, she always placed the needs of others ahead of herself. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of reading and learning, and embodied patience, selflessness, and devotion. Susan received her BA in Economics, Bard College, Class of 1997. Survivors include her children, Meghan Howard and Chris Goldberg of Damascus, Maryland and Andrew and Anna Howard of Potomac, Maryland; her siblings, Nancy, Robert, Amy, and Christian; grandchildren Elliott and Catherine Howard and Kathryn and Anastasia Goldberg, and nieces and nephews Abigail, Kate, Daniel, Amy, Paul, Julia, and Michael. A service will be held Saturday, 12 September at 2 PM at Blithewood Mansion, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Levy Institute of Bard College's Conference Fund or Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
